King Hall Book Review

Synopsis:
King Hall — where the Mysticals go to learn their craft, get their degrees, and transition into adulthood. And where four new Rulers will rise and meet their destinies.

Lily Ruckler is adept at one thing: survival. Born a Mystical hybrid, her mere existence is forbidden, but her nightmare is only about to start. Fluke, happenstance, and a deep personal loss finds Lily deeply entrenched with those who would destroy her simply for existing — The Mystical Kings. Being named future Queen of the Shifters shoves Lily into the spotlight, making her one of the most visible Mysticals in the world. But with risk comes a certain solace — her burgeoning friendships with the other three Rulers: a wicked Vampire, a wild-child Mage, and a playboy Elemental. Backed by their faith and trust, Lily begins to relax into her new life.

Then chaos erupts as the fragile peace between Commoners and Mysticals is broken, and suddenly Lily realizes the greatest threat was never from within, and her fear takes on a new name: the Revolution.

King Hall, by Scarlett Dawn, was rather enjoyable read. It had action, love, lust and slight humor and definitely the strong bonds of friendship, loyalty and devotion. I found myself rooting for the characters and itching to pick the book up whenever I had to put it down.

This was an interesting take on the supernatural. Normally, I would read stories where there are kings or queens of specific kinds but they are separate and hardly ever co-mingle unless necessary. These prodigies had to be together, they had to learn how to get along for the benefit of their worlds.

This story is about Lily, who becomes a Queen Prodigy to her kind, shifters. It is also a story about the other Prodigies who discover if they have what it takes to rule their kinds.

The main character of the story, Lily, was very likable. Being that she grew up in the world of humans, she was easier to relate to. The story was written in the first person POV and that made it easier to understand the character and what she was going through. I'm beginning to like stories written in the first person POV more so than in the third person. Even though Lily was the MC, there were other very integral characters to the story. They all helped to shape the story into an exciting read and helped carry the story along.

King Hall takes place over a time span of a few months. I liked that because we got to see how the characters developed into their own selves and bonded with each other. We go to learn more about some of the characters and got a teaser of who they are. We go to experience their life in school and the lengths they would go through for each other.

King Hall was so well written that there is definitely potential for several side stories/novellas to go along with King Hall. I found myself wanting to know more about specific characters. I certainly hope there is a book two for this story since it seems like it was left open for another one.

Do I recommend this book? I do. It's a wonderful read that won't bore you with too many unnecessary details. It has just the right amount of action and humor to keep you on your toes and turning the pages.
